Cosmic Sandwich

Steve Barnes released his first 12" on the English label Fat Cat under the name "Process", an abstract excursion into sound and space. Following on from this came the "Shape Space" album, highlighted by John Peel on his long running BBC Radio 1 show.
This theme was continued on the Hefty label of Chicago and Scape of Berlin.

At the same time the alternative sound of "Process" was introduced on the then newly formed Traum label of Cologne, producing numerous dance floor friendly tracks.

Since then he has continued to release regularly on Traum, creating and refining his individual take on minimal and atmospheric club tracks, as well as playing many times all over mainland Europe. Recently he has released records on Trapez and My Best Friend, the sister labels of Traum.

Again both these labels focus on dance floor sounds, Trapez more techno, My Best Friend influenced by house, techno and disco. To reflect the differing sound of these two labels Steve records under his real name, "Steve Barnes" and his other alter ego, "Cosmic Sandwich".

His productions have received wide support by a broad range of some of todays hottest DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Tobias Thomas, Ricardo Villalobos, Martin Eyerer...
Friends of Cosmic are Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem, The Silent Jeff´s...
